House League U7+ 2 Days a Week
Moose Jaw Soccer Association (MJSA) House League (U7+)
What is House League? Our House League is devoted to players who want to play soccer but do not want to take part in the FC program, are not old enough to take part, or are not interested/available for more than a couple of games a week.
How much does it cost? We strive to keep the fees as low as possible to allow as many youths to experience the game as possible. The fees for House League include SSA player insurance, field rental for games, equipment usage, and staff salary for our Administrative Assistant. There is a $50 volunteer bond and a $50 fundraising bond in addition to the fees. This bond will be applied to your account at the end of the season for players whose parent/guardian/older family members do not volunteer for any of the various volunteer positions available.
I am funded through JumpStart, KidSport, or another Financial Assistance program, do I have to pay the volunteer bond? Yes, unless you coach a team, volunteer for tournaments, join one of our committees, become a Board Member, etc.
Why does my player need to complete an evaluation? Players are evaluated between the U7-U13 ages to allow for equally skilled teams. This makes it more fun and more competitive for everyone. We do this during the first 2-4 practices.
Do House League players have uniforms? Yes. Players wear black shorts and a team-specific MJSA t-shirt. Cleats, shin guards, and socks are mandatory
Do House League players have extra practices in addition to games? Our U7 and U9 players will take part in short skills-based practices at the beginning of each game day, run by their coach. This will then be followed by a game. U11+ players will not generally practice before their games since their games are longer at this age, but there will be a couple of practices in place of games throughout each season.
Are there standings? We do not keep standings for our U7 and U9 House League. However, we do keep standings beginning at the U11 age for both team and individual players.
Can my player take part in both House League and FC? Yes. Your player may not be placed on a team specifically with other FC players, however. We split our FC players up for House League to keep teams fair and fun.
Who coaches our House League? Our coaches are all volunteers. Teams will be small and will stay the same throughout the season. We encourage parent or student volunteers willing to learn what's needed, ask questions, and above all have fun. They must provide clean criminal record checks if they are 18+, take the Respect in Sport training, and are they provided with the equipment and Curricula necessary to coach a team. We strongly encourage everyone interested to take advantage of the coaching education that MJSA can provide through Canada Soccer.
