Moose Jaw Soccer Association Announcement - Aleksa Bijelic
Moose Jaw Soccer Association & Whitecaps Announcement
Aleksa started his soccer journey with Moose Jaw Soccer Association when he first moved to Canada, but moved around clubs over the previous few years before returning home to Moose Jaw Soccer Association in the summer of 2018.
Moose Jaw Soccer Association Executive & Technical Director Jordan Jeffery on Aleksa’s signing:
“I’m delighted for Aleksa and his family, truthfully this was always the goal that myself, Alex (Aleksa’s father) and Aleksa spoke about.
“Aleksa is a player with immense capabilities and a fantastic attitude aswell. He isn’t a player that feels he knows too much, he’s always looking to learn and that’s why I believe this is still just the start of his journey.
“Aleksa has had some fantastic coaches over the years, not just Alex but in Benno, Jason and others. He’s taken all of the information each coach has given to him and figured out which pieces of information work for him and become a stronger player as a result of that.
“I’d like to thank Aleksa and Alex in believing in the program and returning back home last year, once I took over Moose Jaw Soccer on a full-time basis in March 2018 I knew that I was looking to bring them both back but I wanted to make sure that we could offer something that would warrant a return.
“Aleksa has not only just been a player in our competitive Moose Jaw FC program this past year, he’s also been a coach and a role model in our younger groups too. These players now have another role model they can look up to and aspire to become in the future.
“It’s easy to just talk about Aleksa in this article but the work that his father Alex put in to make this happen cannot be understated, receiving the offer from the Whitecaps is one thing but finding a billet family isn’t something that’s just going to happen by sitting at home and hoping someone comes and offers to help. Alex spent thousands of dollars on trips to Saskatoon, went to soccer games and became part of the soccer community there in the hope of finding a billet for Aleksa, something he has successfully achieved.
“Alex’s hard work means that Aleksa can start to live part of his dream.
“To Alex, thank you for being part of Moose Jaw Soccer and improving the program with me & many others - long may that continue.
“To Aleksa, we will keep in touch, good luck and thank you for knocking the door down for future Moose Jaw Soccer players.”
